KUTA SURFER BECOMES RESTAURANT MANAGER AT
UN’S RESTAURANT IN KUTA

Marlon travels the world as a pro surfer and was on the TV reality show “Joe Millionaire” in Indonesia. But above all, he always likes to dine in style where ever he is. Many times while eating at different restaurants around the world he thought he could do better. The idea eventually developed in his mind that he could take care of  UN’s RESTAURANT in Kuta, Bali, a classy European and Indonesian fine dining place owned by his Father.

Marlon had a clear vision of how to transform Un’s into the best restaurant with the best food and best service in Kuta. He started by closing the restaurant for over two months and did a total renovation. The kitchen was enlarged with new equipment brought in and he upgraded the entire restaurant while keeping its authentic Balinese flair intact. The new atmosphere is fresh and clean, with a circular stairway leading upstairs where plans are underway to create an additional enclosed, air-conditioned dining section. The rest rooms are stylish and very clean as well with great attention to details such as small, rolled-up, single-use towels.

Our regular guests have been coming to UN’s restaurant for 18 years and Marlon’s presence also attracts a new elite clientele of champion surfers from around the globe who regularly visit Bali for magazine and film production projects. Visiting surfers and regular customers alike can’t seem to get enough of Un’s specialty dishes such as Entrecote café de Paris or Un’s famous meat and cheese fondues. Marlon wants to keep all the popular menu items intact that people come to UN’s for while gradually introducing new dishes in the future. “Food is like fashion,” says Marlon. “You’ve got to be in the trend or you’re left behind.” Us fashionable foodies think he has a good point there and wish him good luck and much success in his restaurant career.
